Saving The Studio

Happy Friday, and the end of another week, this one seemed to fly by faster than usual. I know, for many of you, it has been a wild and weird weather week, hopefully the weekend will bring sunnier days for us all.

I will start this post off with a warning.  For those of you who are super organized and have been so most of your life, perhaps even from birth, you may want to avoid this first photo...it may be too much of a shock to your well ordered self.  You have now been warned.

This is the Studio/Junk room...I know what you are thinking...How does a room get this bad?  Well, to be honest, this photo was just taken today and I have actually been working on the room for some time.  I can only say in my defense, that it is not easy to keep all of the things that you think you 'need', in a 750 square ft. home. (Approx.) And for some reason, the mess seems to get worse the more I work on it.

Progress is being made and I am discovering things I forgot all about, like this bin of vintage patterns that I would like to put in my Etsy shop.

And this wild Asianish (is that a word?) fabric that I fell in love with and thought would make a great apron.

Speaking of  aprons, I completely forgot about this book along with other sewing and craft books that were in a corner ready for those bookshelves yet to be purchased.

Oh, another interesting thing happens when you live in a small home with minimal kitchen storage.  Sometimes, small appliances live in other rooms, like displaced relatives staying for 'just a short time'.

So my friends, now you know my messy little secret.  I figure, if I show you the room, then I will have to keep up with the digging out and finally make it be the studio...my studio, that I have been dreaming about.  It will be that much easier to accomplish when I know you are all cheering me on.

With that said, I will now wish you all a fun and sunny, first weekend of Spring.

xo

Sherri, that could very well be my craft room! No warning necessary here:). What a fun little treasure hunt you are having... Keep up the good work. Happy spring!!

I bet you'll find tons of interesting things in there you completely forgot about, and those will be enough motivation for you to keep going.

Though I must say, I am a little curious and do want to see the final result once it's done lol. No pressure lol

I am so excited for you and this journey you are on to make this space the studio of your dreams! Organization is not an event, but a process. A, one step at a time, process. Don't be hard on yourself. Just keep plucking away at it and before you know it, this space will be your hideaway where all your creative juices will flow!

That could be my sewing room too. I have an enormous stash of fabric, and haven't done a single bit of sewing other than maintenance like hemming pants or sewing buttons in at least 5 years. It's probably the only room in the house that is a complete mess. I do like to be mostly organized in the everyday stuff -- groceries, cooking, dishes, laundry. I seem to be getting more organized the older I get.

Oh that is just real life, isn't it? I think even the most organized homes have at least one messy space. I sure do... its here in the office/sewing room, where I toss anything messy anytime anyone comes over. Sadly I don't have time to get in here to clear it all up as often as I need to. But it's on my list for this year. (actually it was on my list for last month, and it didn't happen.)

I love you for showing us your craft room! Thank you! I so often feel like the "Anti-Martha" when I read other people's blogs - my house always looks like a tornado just went through it.

My goal today was to gulch out the bathroom and I did it - all except the floors, which I must do tomorrow!

Thanks for lifting my spirits!

My craft room is quite small, and it definitely is hard to keep it organized. Wishing you a beautiful weekend full of sunshine! xo Heather

Ha! I have found that in order to organize, one must first make a bigger mess. You can do it! We have about 800 square feet, so I know exactly how this all happens :)
Wishing you a wonderful weekend! Looking forward to seeing how you progress! xo
