Happy Friday friends! I hope this finds you all well and ready for an enjoyable weekend. We are preparing
for our first storm of the season. Living by the sea, acutally, inland waters, we have many stormy days
through the year but the first one always seems to take me by surprise...strange, I know.
After going to the salon yesterday to have my roots, ahem...I mean the blond highlights touched up, I came
home to fortify the fort that I have put together for the chickens in their run. I hear you all laughing...
and you are right, those shutters will probably not stay in place forever. Eventually I will figure a better
solution, but for now it will keep them dry and give them a bit more room under the little wood shelter.
I do hope the chickens appreciate the fresh straw also layed down...Not a good thing to do with a bad shoulder!!
Look how cozy it is in there, if I were a chicken I'd be very pleased....You'd think....
But, appearently, this is where they would rather seek refuge...under Mom's fort...go figure.

Hope you all find your special place this weekend too! xo

i'm actually looking forward to the rainy weather.... i'm tired of dragging the hose around to water... AND i'd love a day to putter around inside with the rain tapping on the roof :).... but i'll probably be regretting this in november!

the chickens seem to be acting like kids!!
happy weekend!
Sherri
That looks my style of roofing! Yep, just throw a shutter or two over some boards and your good to go!
Honestly, if those chickens have any sense at all, they'll chose your shelter over that open table.
Have a good weekend-Kimberly
How cute are your chickens! I love your shelter and maybe the chickens will "smarten" up and use it :) We have some weather coming in...it's terribly windy here and cold. I have a fire going in the wood burner stove - maybe we'll get some snow :) I should probably get the laundry off the clothes line. How is your shoulder doing? Did the chiropractor help? Have a great weekend, Sherri :)
Hugs,
Stephanie
Stubborn little kids! I wonder if it only takes one to check out the new shelter and then they're all curious? Happy Weekend:@)
Ha! Silly chickens! You are so good. I knew it was coming, but I think I was in denial. So instead of cleaning out the coop, adding new shavings, and scrubbing the watering thinger... I instead spent the morning sewing a new bag. Then it was too late.
Poor chooks, What a bad mother hen I am.
On the upside, I have a really sweet new bag.
Love those shutters..the girls should be thrilled to have such lovely treasures. I am soooo enjoying our rain today.
Love the yard in your house and those chickens are so cute! :)
do you keep them to eat or you like to keep them live? we here have some chickens to eat and some for pets...

Lovin' the shutters! How funny are your chickens! Happy weekend to you! xo Heather
Love your shutters I'm praying for no snow.......hope the storm passes you by....happy Friday!
Your chickies are just feeling more festive now as opposed to 'shuttered in' !!!
he he
They will figure it out soon enough !!
xoxo
shutters, shutters, every where & i wonder what she is shuttering over so? ha. ha!!
having a blogoversary today with a giveaway ... hope you can stop by. send your friends over too. big big hugs.(:
I can identify. Your chicken fort looks like my kind of construction, based on a similar skill set.
We know folks on the west coast, on Lummi Island actually, but have never experienced one of those winter storms. Bet its awsome. As a one time event, that is! Just like a kid to ignore the obvious and use something else!!
HI...what a lovely blog you have. I found you through Bluebird Notes blog.
How cool that you have a few chickens. We live in the country (only been here 3 years now...new marriage)...and my hubby asked if we should get 100 chickens to roasters. so far, I am NOT convinced. I told him he was Cock A Doodle Nuts.
Anyway, I'll be back
(that's not a threat...tee,hee)
Hello Sheri, thanks for stooped by and asking about beans, and sorry it's actually peanut..and I was wrong to translate it...sometimes I was confuse beans, peanuts, nuts and coconuts haha :D
I love pork!!! I must try with pork too...sounds delish!
Happy SUnday! God bless ya
I'm sure your chickens appreciate the work you went to to provide better shelter for them. But those wouldn't last long here in the big windy storms that usually hit us.
your girls are just like kids! lol
hope the shoulder is healing~ take care and have a great weekend~ love your new header!
