While we were away, the chickens were busy with a surprise for us. Frederick the cat gave me a report on the activity.
It seems that Junior, the rooster, called the girls into action, suggesting that they clean up the herb garden and get it ready for the new plants.
Even Goldie got into the act....normally she feels like this work is beneath her.
Here Junior is encouraging the girls as they get after the weeds.
Frederick said that they worked hard for hours and got a bit nervous thinking that they wouldn't get the four bags of soil down in time before we got home.
It seems that their worries were unfounded as this is what we saw when we went out back. What a nice surprise to come home and find this bed all ready to go. Bless their little hearts...I think a special treat is in store for them, maybe the favorite, black oil seeds.
Did you have any Easter surprises?
Have a sweet day! xo

How nice! Tell me, how does one train chickens to do this? I have a couple of beds that need some work!
How nice to come home to the bed all ready for planting! Would ya send the crew out east, I could use some help too:@)
My... what a talented feathered crew you have !!
They are sooo thoughtful aren't they ?
And such a concise reporting from Fredrick as well !!

I am impressed at this work! When I had chickens they were not this motivated.
What sweeties! They have done a great job! xo
What a good job! I know you were happy to see what they had done! I bought three packets of herbs and planted them among the flowers. I hope they come up! We had a nice Easter but no surprises.
how great if the grand-daddys had been drinking buddies- but stranger things have happened for sure!
A great thought, made me smile big!
xx
They are so cute.....I'm glad your Easter was wonderful with grandkids.....
Why are you up so early?
What industrious chickens! All mine ever want to do is eat the grass and kick dirt over the patio.
Trusty Frederick with his reports, it looks like your chickens have done a cracking job, they are very deserving of a special treat.
As for Easter surprise yes I did have one it was very unwelcome :( but Easter in general was quite nice, I am glad you had a nice Easter.
Regards
Edward
