With that said, it is only natural for me to have a desire to encourage our young ones to get started helping out in the kitchen as soon as possible and to do that you must have an.....apron!
So that is the project that I hinted about on Wednesday. I am starting a line of children's aprons, ones that they will really enjoy wearing and for the little girls, they must be pretty. The grand daughters will be the first to 'test drive' the aprons and choose the ones that will be put in the shop.
Ella and Eden
Sissy (Juliet)
Here is the very rough pattern, I used a sheet that I tore and held up to Ella and taped to shape it a bit. - If there are any seamstresses with weak stomachs you may wish to turn away now...I use 'no' patterns and I fly by the seat of my pants...the stories my sewing machines could tell!!
Here is the first one, mind you it is just pinned down but I think it is pretty close to how I want it, maybe a pocket...I don't know.
It is from a wonderful, sturdy linen tablecloth that I picked up a thrift shop, and we must have lace (also from the thrift) on a little girls apron.
Sissy says "What about the boys when they are in the kitchen with us?"
I thought of them too Sis, what do you think about this fabric?
So that's it, I am starting a full line of the aprons for girls and boys. I will share this apron when I'm done. After I try it on Ella and make any changes in the fit, if needed, I will get my stock up enough to put in the shop.
A New Beginning!
I hope you have some nice plans for the weekend...have a good one! xo

Really a sweet idea.
Very exciting! Love the cute apron and wish you much success-have fun:@)
I want one and I don't even have any kids! What a great idea. I love that you use vintage material and/or repurposing old tablecloths. I can see the kids in them already, cooking up a storm. Look forward to seeing your new line in your Etsy shop!

I wish you much success with your new shop!
Children love to cook too. And, of course, deserve a sweet apron.
I can't wait to see all of them when you get them whipped up!
Love the repurposed material! What a great idea!
What cute kids!! What amazingly beautiful parents they must have...
What a brilliant idea! And you use no patterns? I'm sooooo impressed. May you prosper in this venture!
This is a great idea Sherri, and feel sure the aprons will be snapped up in your shop. I love the vintage fabric you have chosen and adding the lace is such a lovely touch too.
Looks like you are going to be busy!
Good luck :)

Awesome idea! I would've loved a little apron to wear when I was a kid.

I think those are a great idea. There have been some at the craft sales down here, but they are always for little girls so I am happy to see you thinking of the boys as well. I can't wait to see more pics.
Girlie aprons! I think that's the stage in life when putting on an apron is something really special, so the fancier the apron, the better.
These are going to be so adorable.....
Thank you for visiting me the other day and leaving such sweet well wishes. Oh your aprons will be a huge hit! xoxoxo
