Favorite Ornament

It has been a full week but I'm finally back to the Little House and putting the last touches on the tree. When I packed up the car, I grabbed a few boxes of our vintage ornaments to bring back and was pleased to see my very favorite one was tucked inside. This horn was my fathers when he was young and always gets a special place on the tree. He would be pleased to see that it is still being enjoyed.

I am making a batch of peppermint bark today for the Mr. to take to work tomorrow...I will try to remember to take some snaps of it to share in the morning. I made some with the grand kiddos this week and it was a real hit.

Hope you all are enjoying your weekend, see you tomorrow!

'Tis the Season to enjoy all the cooking, baking, giving, etc. And to enjoy the memories as we put our favorite old ornaments to the tree one more time!
Wishing you all the blessings of Christmas!

I love that picture. It looks like it is from a magazine. You are very fortunate to have history with that ornament. It means so much to have momentos from people we love. How many hours do you think he watched, and waited looking at that same ornament?

That ornament is a real treasure. Some families are so good at saving treasures and passing them on. Sadly, mine wasn't one of them.
I'm looking forward to seeing the peppermint bark. One of my employess made it last year and I loved it. I think I'll try it this year. I sure hope it's easy-otherwise I'll never be able to do it!!

How lovely to still have the little red horn that belonged to your father. I hope it brings back many happy memories every time you look at it.
The peppermint bark sounds delicious, I would love to try some but will be happy to see a picture of it ;) xx

Those precious ornaments that have been passed down that we so gently wrap up carefully year after year are truly Christmas treasures. I know it means the world to you. You won't believe it, but the Peppermint Bark is one that I'm working on tonight. I have never made it before, but it looks easy. I have no time to waste, so I pray it works.

Thank you for sharing the ornament and the story of it. How wonderful that you still have it. The only ornaments I have from my family are 2 little rocking horses that belonged to my grandmother in the 60s. They are quite special to me.

Our little family has a tradition of giving each other ornaments on Christmas Eve. As we decorate the tree each year, I love sharing the history of each ornament with my daughter. Truly special moments of our lives together.
