Purple Gems

Hello friends, how is your week going? It has been a busy week so far for me. I came down to the City House to celebrate our mothers 84th birthday yesterday and then a family work day at her house on Saturday

Today, I am busy picking the bumper crop of Italian prune plums and making them into jam.

Some will be cut in half and frozen for one of the Misters favorite goodies...Plum upside down cake..yum.

Finally, here is the fennel that I planted years ago and it faithfully comes up every year, supplying me with more seed for cooking and baking than I can use.

My computer here, is acting up and being very slow so I will wish you all a happy weekend and see you next week.  I will stop by and visit you all if 'The Beast' can get out of it's own way.

Those plums are so pretty! Can you make prunes out of them?

Your trees look loaded !! I have always loved that look of 'frosty haze' that the plums have.
I had never thought of splitting then freezing them... Hopefully I can hit the farmers market this weekend.
Tasty !!

OMG those plums are absolutely beautiful! I couldn't imagine having fruit that nice in my yard! The squirrels stripped my trees (apple/peach) bare every year. Enjoy your jam, plum is very good:@)

I have those kind of plums in my yard...I've only made jam with them (which is delicious), but that is all I have done with them. You mentioned upside down plum cake...that sounds wonderful! Do you use them for anything else?

We had an italian prune tree back in Sweet Home where I grew up. I really loved seeing the fruit ripen every year, and it's got such a great taste. I bet it'll make some rockin' jam. :)

I once lived in a house with half a dozen plum trees in the back yard. You can imagine what a problem that was with the dogs and fallen fruit!

Thanks for visiting the other day:) I am working on some things with the blog and hope to be a regular soon. I've checked in with you intermittently... always an enjoyable read!
