This and That

Hello friends! Hope you are all having a good week, I have been working on getting caught up on some things that were put on the back burner. My visits to you all were a bit sporadic as of late, so I have been trying to make the rounds to see what you are up to. This post is just a bit of this and that, just right for the middle of the week.

There are still some lemons lurking around that have asked to be turned into some kind of a cake....do I hear the Barefoot Contessa's recipe calling?

Here is the phone that I finally decided on...not an iPhone after all but an Android instead, I haven't really learned how to do much with it except make calls....The first night I had it, I asked my sister to call me and I didn't know how to answer it, I kept tapping the green phone picture and it wouldn't do anything...after a bit of detective work we found out you put the finger on it and hold down and slide.....ooh boy....I'm old!

My Christmas cactus is blooming.......but wait, come to find out, there is such a thing as an Easter cactus too!  I did some searching and some descriptions sound like 'part' of the plant and others don't, so, does anyone know what it is?

Mrs. Cottontail says "Silly humans, if it's blooming now, it must be an Easter cactus."

See you all soon, be well!   xo

Checking In

A quick post to let you know I am still alive.  Kami is doing better adjusting to her radiation and is now in and out of her appointments in about 10 minutes.  I will be heading back to the Little House this morning and the forecast promises a mostly sunny drive (after the dense fog lifts).  I had a chance to make the Citrus Butter Cookies and will be giving a review soon.

Thank you all for your support, your emails and comments along with all of the prayers have been a lifesaver!

Have a fun filled weekend!   xo

A Little Break

Hello friends.  I will be taking a little break...Kami (daughter) is having a bit of a struggle with her radiation set up.  It has been quite trying for her and she is having fear and claustrophobia issues with the mesh mask that must be used.  You can visit her blog here to read all about it.

I will still try to get around to visit you all but for now I feel a bit overwhelmed and weary and not up to putting a post together.

Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers.

New Cookbook

Yesterday was the release date of the new cookbook, The Pioneer Woman Cooks - Food From My Frontier.  I was so hoping that my Costco would have it out and sure enough it was...yea!

I can't wait to try this recipe, maybe a batch will be whipped up for hubby to share at work on Friday!

Don't these look delicious, my mouth is watering as I type?!

My new little friend, Mr. Barney Bunny, says they would be perfect on the dessert table for Easter.  Sounds like a good idea little buddy.

I hope you are all having a good week, I'm in the middle of some paper work that can not be put off any longer but I had to take the time to share this new release.

I will do a recipe review for you after I give it a try.

Have a great day!  xo

Spring Tease

Yesterday was quite a tease, with temps. in the 60's here at the City House.  Now, if we could only get the chance of snow flakes out of the forecast, we may take things a bit more serious and dust off the garden tools.

Hope you have some sunshine in your weekend...one way or another!

The Death Of A Cell Phone

I can not put it off any longer, it is time to say good by to a dear friend, one that has been so close to me for so very long.

Family members are complaining about horrid gaps in sentences...I thought it was just every now and then but was told by sister that they all just "got used to it" and didn't say anything unless they couldn't piece it together anymore.

This will be our last night together...tomorrow I will find a replacement...I have to admit that I am nervous and wish I could go to something like a match.com for phones.

I am told that I want a smart phone.

It would be helpful if you have any suggestions and could recommend a phone that you are pleased with.

Any advice would be appreciated. xo

Magazine Deals - $4.99 Year Sub.

Another new week and a few great magazine prices to start it off.  As most of you know, I get a kick out of keeping tabs on Slickdeals.net and finding, too good to pass up, offers on periodicals that I think will be a bonus to you all.

Go here and use code 1816 for the Guideposts, enter it in the code box and at the end of checkout and your final cost will be $4.99.

Go here and use code 8368 for Old House Journal, enter it in the code box and at the end of checkout and your final cost will be $4.99.

* Remember, these offers usually only last a day so don't dawdle like I did last time and miss out on a favorite for yourself or a loved one...I have my eye on the Old House Journal for a couple of my guys!

It will be interesting driving for me today, I have to leave the Little House before snow starts and get to the City House before it starts there, nothing like having weather nipping at your heals the entire way....should be interesting.

Have a great day!  xo

Kami's Last Chemo

Yesterday was Kami's last chemo...Yippee !!!!!!!

Here is the big chocolate goodie that our son-in-law Colin and grandson Samuel ordered from their favorite market...Love it!

It is now off to the finish line for our sweet girl, she gets all the measurements and preps today for the final leg of the journey....radiation and then this chapter of our lives will be complete and on to building her body back up and catching up with all that was put on semi-hold.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your prayers, sweet emails and thoughtful comments, they do hold us up high and help us not to stumble and fall into the pit of despair and pain.

Wishing you all a day full of joy!   xo
