Special Daughter Time

Happy Friday everyone, hope you had a good week, mine was something of a whirlwind. Two Happy Birthday events that went well and a surgery that didn't happen for little Sissy's ears. Mom and Dad prepared her and off they went, only to find that she had a bit of a fever and runny nose so Dr. chose to reschedule. We will try again in a few weeks.

Yesterday, Kami and I enjoyed some special time. She asked me to help her on the first 'cancer quilt' that she is making for patients to use during their chemo and radiation treatments, something of their very own to cover up with. You can read about it here on her blog.  It was symbolic in a way for me, it was the first time I was visiting and it wasn't about her cancer, it was about moving on, putting that journey behind us and putting to use lessons learned during that time.

Now, there are things to tend to up at the Little House.... a Mister to hug, a cat to pet, chickens to greet, a garden to prep...etc.....Life is good!

Have the sweetest of weekends my friends.   xo

Don't Be Sad, There's Picmonkey Now

So, are you sad that today is the day that Picnik is going away? Well, I have good news, there is something else to turn to instead....Yea! This morning, Maureen did a post on her blog, Daydream Living, about a product called Picmonkey, I followed her link and it is the easiest thing I have ever used..Really!!! Here is the link to Picmonkey, I used it on these photos, but don't judge by me as I was so excited that I just did a quick experiment on the one of the kids.

I just fooled around with this one for about 2 minutes, maybe not even that long. We are almost done with another 'wing' of the chicken run, giving up some more of the garden to 'save the chickens'.

I am leaving tomorrow morning to go down for these three little angels. Jude's Bowling birthday party when I get in tomorrow evening and then the next day a birthday brunch for our Ella and then next Wednesday our little Goldie locks, Sissy (Juliet), will be having surgery to have her adenoids removed and tubes inserted in her ears...poor little lamb was losing her hearing, thankfully she will be fine after the surgery.

Hope you will go check out the link..it really is going to be fun to use.

 Have a great weekend! xo

What's It Answer

We have an answer to the mystery object from yesterday's post. Sabrina tells us that she has one and it is a Walnut Cracker....sure enough, I found it over a Amazon.com (photo image credit too).

Thanks to all of you for your comments and guesses. I just now noticed that you can use it for a bottle opener too, how funny.  Dorothy guessed that it may be used to open different sizes of bottles, so she is right also.   You find her over at her sweet blog, Counting Your Blessings.

Thanks to Sabrina for the final answer on this and you can go visit her over at her lovely blog, Schtuff at Home.

 Have a nice day. xo

Re-visit What Is It

As I was sorting though my photos, I came across this from a few years ago. Some of you may remember me asking "What is this?"  We never did get the answer so I will put it out again. Does anyone have even another good guess as to what this is?

Sorry about the blurry picture, but you can see the ridges in it and the funnel type shape.

Usually I come across an answer to these mysteries, but not this time, hopefully one of you will know.....What do you think?  xo

Kami's Cancer Treatment is Done!

Tuesday was Kami's last radiation....she is finished with all of the treatment plan. With her type of cancer, it is unlikely to return. a hope that others don't always have. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all of your prayers, kind thoughts, comments and emails. You will never know how you helped to get me through some dark moments when it was difficult to see that light at the end of the tunnel...Would I ever be able to really be happy again or just go through the motions of life?  I learned that when we visit each others blogs, it is a time to get away and refresh ourselves, see pretty things and maybe a recipe or two and sometimes find out that someone else needs a kind word and prayer. I do love you my blogging friends. Thank you. xo

You can visit Kami's blog here to get her thoughts on the Finish.

The Chickens and the Easter Surprise

We are back from a wonderful Easter with the family.   It was so nice so share the Easter service with the family and then meet to enjoy a meal and then watch the children and 'the hunt'.

While we were away, the chickens were busy with a surprise for us.   Frederick the cat gave me a report on the activity.

It seems that Junior, the rooster, called the girls into action, suggesting that they clean up the herb garden and get it ready for the new plants.

Even Goldie got into the act....normally she feels like this work is beneath her.

Here Junior is encouraging the girls as they get after the weeds.

Frederick said that they worked hard for hours and got a bit nervous thinking that they wouldn't get the four bags of soil down in time before we got home.

It seems that their worries were unfounded as this is what we saw when we went out back.  What a nice surprise to come home and find this bed all ready to go.  Bless their little hearts...I think a special treat is in store for them, maybe the favorite, black oil seeds.

Did you have any Easter surprises?

Have a sweet day!  xo

Quilt Art Show

A real quick post this morning as it is another Monday on the road.  I wanted to share some beautiful works of art with you.  The Mr. took me to an art show in La Conner, a town near to us, that has a quilt museum and puts on some very impressive exhibits.

As usual, there were pieces from all over the world, near and far.

Here's my honey admiring this colorful piece.

These are the first pictures I've taken with the new phone...I must admit it took me awhile this morning to learn how to put them on the computer....hmmm....

Must run now...Have a happy Monday!   xo
