Our I-5 Skagit Bridge Collapse

I can't even believe this....The bridge that we use all of the time collapsed. This is the bridge the we use to do shopping. Costco and then over the bridge to Lowes and Walmart. It is Interstate 5, you have to take this bridge when you come from Seattle to go up North to Vancouver B.C. Also to get to the Little House in Anacortes.

This is shocking..How can something like this happen? So far they are saying that 3 people were rescued..no word of any deaths, thankfully.

I just heard on the news that someone saw a big truck hit part of the bridge when going over and made it to the other side before the collapse...wow.

There iarea tremendous amount of vehicles that use this bridge and only one small two lane bridge to use as an alternative. I just had to share with you...I'm in kind of a state of shock still. xo

my goodness! Sometimes when things like this happen I think perhaps there was a reason? Perhaps there was a weak bit no-one spotted and it would've been a horrible (even more horrible) disaster?

Man that's scary! Glad you're ok but it sounds like you'll be having some major traffic jams for a while.

How awful, thank God noone was killed. We had a new bridge under construction collaps here in Norway not long ago, wonder how that could happen. Shudder. Pam

Sherri, I had no idea this was in your area! Wow, such a horrific thing. You know, I really don't like bridges...some are beautiful but I never feel completely safe.

I saw on the news that there is a high percentage of bridges that are "NOT" monitored as often as they should be and a percentage here in Texas is included.

I'm so sorry! Glad to know you are safe, that's for sure.

Thank God no one was killed. We heard about it up here on the news. A friend who is vacationing down there said he crossed that bridge a couple of times in the days before the collapse.

It is scary when an interstate bridge collapses. Hope they get on the stick and get it replaced shortly.
