The International Magazine Swap

By now you probably know my affection for magazines and sharing little bits of them with you. When I first spoke of House Beautiful, Floss from the lovely blog, Troc Broc And Recup left me a comment about how she used to have a subscription to British House Beautiful and has kept all the copies. I offered to send some of my mags to her and so the story begins. Through a few emails we struck a good swap deal and today my two began their journey across land and sea to France. How fun is that? Floss also did a post where she took us on a foot journey to her post office with pics of spots along the way, it was very nice. Not to be a copycat I will take you by car and only a few snaps.......So we will grab the two traveling companions and head on down the highway, into town and right to the P.O.

The nicest workers inside, always kind, patient and helpful ( small town bonus). The nice lady let me put it through the slot so I could take a picture of that for you then she had to go to the bin and fish it out for a special spot they must keep packages for customs (anything over a pound ). She was happy to be part of the story I do believe.

Here it is heading down to the waiting hands of the trained government professional who will whisk it off to the safety of the special holding place for customs.

On my way back home I must go over a few blocks and stop at my very favorite thrift store. The Red Door...There is no other to compare. Not a lot of junk and real good prices. Things go fast.

Back home to get things out and show you before I have to start dinner.

Here's a 1982 book that I can hardly wait to get into to see what might be coming back in style now.

Well no, they are not thrifted, they followed me from the florist/gift shop in town when I went in to say hi to the owner.

They promised to be good if they could stay. Now how can you say no to those faces?

It has been a good full day but now it's time to say goodnight.

What Is It?

This was in a bag of old cookie cutters from one of my recent thrifting trips. You can roll it along with the handles and it has 6 different shapes all round. I can see it being used to cut pastry. Each shape is about 2" wide. The markings are ' Made in Germany' and a symbol with DRGM under it. I always think it's fun to try to pin point what something was really used for. Pretty small for cookies but who knows. How about it does any one know or have at least a fun guess?

The weather is still not good. Normally I don't complain about it but it is really getting old. I guess I am having clothesline withdrawal. We are going to get some gusty wind tonight so maybe that will clear things out. (or bring more bad stuff in).

Well I must be off to do the evening rounds. I set the coffee pot up for the morning (5 am) as I just love my first cup to be waiting for me. Next off to the bath and my comfy pajamas and finally back to the kitchen to make our popcorn which goes in our big wooden bowl that Mr. B. and I share almost every night.....Sometimes routines can be very soothing, especially on a rainy, windy Northwest night.....maybe it's not so bad after all. Thrifty Finds

Here are a set of the sweetest little butter knives for $1.00. I know the picture isn't the greatest but I am going to work very hard at taking the best possible pictures with my humble little camera. Isn't that very responsible of me? No, not really. The truth is, Santa ( MR. B. ) was very good to me this Christmas so I will make due until you all beg me to save your eyeballs from the torture of me and my HP Photosmart R847 lack of ability ( audible gasping from readers ). So there you have it. Now when I share my treasures you can just shake your head, click your tongue, sigh and say " Poor Sherri B. ".......... Well this will have to be it for tonight as I didn't expect the picture of the book to go on top...Oh well I will figure it out tomorrow. So much to learn. Good night to all.
