A Sorry Sight

Well now, this is a sad state for a garden to be in.  On closer examination, it is more serious than I had first thought.

The garden was not put to bed properly last fall (pesky medical issue) and this is the result.

Thistles, everywhere...a literal carpet of them.  Have you ever seen anything like it?

How does this even happen in a few months time?  Too bad there isn't a demand for them..we'd be sitting pretty at the Farmers Market!

I'm going in............Send help if I don't return.

See you in a few days, hopefully with a better report.  xo

Good luck with the battle against the thistles, wish weeds didn't grow so quickly...wish my planted stuff grew half as quick ;-) Pam

Ha... I'm still working on mine! I finally got it weeded, tilled and ready to go last night. Of course then my husband had to re-rake it because he didn't think it was level enough! Now I get to plant :)

PS but at least I didn't have any thistles!

It is CRAZY the chaos that can happend with a moments neglect in the garden...flower beds, or whatever.
My hubby is constantly spraying the fields around here for thistles.

It's amazing how quickly nature can and will take over! Seems like every time it rains here, the weeds grow another foot!

You could sell Thistle seed :) We buy them for the Goldfinch and they are pretty pricey. You will have that mess conquered in no time!

Oh boy, you're going to be busy. I chuckled with your thistle comment LOL

I wish there was a huge demand for weeds, I would be rich. lol

It looks daunting but just think how nice it will be when you are finished.

That would be quite a task...needs some hard-work though.

"Have you ever seen anything like it"?

Ah.... yes! That is what parts of our hillside look like each year unless we remain on top of it. I always say the same thing every year, "where do they come from"... pretty much tries to drive me crazy.

I better check on you shortly following that "going in" comment. ;) Have a great weekend dear lady.

Your garden is going to be lovely! Have fun...if the sun is shinning it is not a bad job. xo

You can do it!

I have to clean out our perennial bed - I didn't clean it out in the fall - no where near your excuse - just laziness and horrible weather. Of course, now it is "snaining" again. Someday maybe it will be clear and dry and I can get out and tackle it. Also, the dog yard, but that is another story!

Um, yes, I have seen worse...why do you think this farm is called Thistle Cove Farm? -grin- Sometimes life just grabs us by the throat and chokes for a while; you'll get that garden back in shape. Your raised beds are *very* impressive; I'm envious.
