Elderberry??

Hope everyone had a restful weekend. Ours was quick, hubs only had Sunday off, so it was full of must do's. This is a very quick post so I'll get right to it. Can anyone tell me if this is Elderberry.

If it is Elderberry then where are the berries?

I have always been so envious of those bloggers that talk about the things they do with their Elderberries.

Thanks in advance for any info that you can provide...They do look like they are at the end of the blossom.

Have a very nice Monday...what is left of it!    xo

Good question! Your flowers look a little "fuzzier" than those I saw when I Googled. Could be interesting to watch, looks like the branch turns purple where the berry clusters grow. I think we had one of these trees when I was a kid, remember the berries, not the blooms:@)

Sherri, I am not sure exactly what it is, looks very familiar, but it is not Elderberry. The leaves tell me that right away. Plus, we have just passed the flowering time for Elderberry, all my flowers were destroyed a while back when we had that hard rain just as I was set to make Elderflower cordial! :( Elderberries will start to come on in a little while and hopefully I can make some syrup from those. I have a Black Elderberry bush, which is a beautiful purple burgundy color with delicate pink flowers. It took a couple of years to establish and now it's growing gangbusters!

Hope someone knows what kind of bush that is, I'd love to know too!

Don't know! Sorry!

I don't know much about Elderberries, but I think they are small berries that grow in clusters. I DO know that someone gave me some Elderberry wine that tasted mighty fine once upon a time!

Sherrie, I'm pretty sure that is ocean spray/Holodiscus discolor, if it's blooming right now. Elderberry already bloomed, and should have berries now. Also, I'm pretty sure our native PNW elderberry is not good for making jams and wines and such with. Only eastern elderberry is good for that.

Indeed, the leaves are all wrong - bad luck! Thanks for your encouraging hen comments. We (especially Son 2) are really enjoying having them with us.

Elderflower champagne is easy to make (but make sure you have secure tops on the bottles - it can explode!) + delicious - but that's not elderflower! Hope you find out what it is. Abby x

Another no vote on the elderberries. Sure is pretty though. And isn't it great to have the internet to find out!
