The Chickens and the Easter Surprise

We are back from a wonderful Easter with the family.   It was so nice so share the Easter service with the family and then meet to enjoy a meal and then watch the children and 'the hunt'.

While we were away, the chickens were busy with a surprise for us.   Frederick the cat gave me a report on the activity.

It seems that Junior, the rooster, called the girls into action, suggesting that they clean up the herb garden and get it ready for the new plants.

Even Goldie got into the act....normally she feels like this work is beneath her.

Here Junior is encouraging the girls as they get after the weeds.

Frederick said that they worked hard for hours and got a bit nervous thinking that they wouldn't get the four bags of soil down in time before we got home.

It seems that their worries were unfounded as this is what we saw when we went out back.  What a nice surprise to come home and find this bed all ready to go.  Bless their little hearts...I think a special treat is in store for them, maybe the favorite, black oil seeds.

Did you have any Easter surprises?

Have a sweet day!  xo

What a good job! I know you were happy to see what they had done! I bought three packets of herbs and planted them among the flowers. I hope they come up! We had a nice Easter but no surprises.

What industrious chickens! All mine ever want to do is eat the grass and kick dirt over the patio.

Trusty Frederick with his reports, it looks like your chickens have done a cracking job, they are very deserving of a special treat.

As for Easter surprise yes I did have one it was very unwelcome :( but Easter in general was quite nice, I am glad you had a nice Easter.
Regards
Edward
