Flowers In The House

I'm joining up once again, with Jane's 'Flowers In The House' over at smallbutcharming. It has become quite a hit and so she has decided that the last Monday of the month will be the day we all invite everyone over to see what we have put out to add the touch of love to our homes. * The chickens offered these daffodils from their yard, they gathered around me and helped to choose the very best to take in the house. I used this special mug to put them in. It is really a work of art, showing women 'Weaving', which is the title on the bottom.
The details are like a story of their everyday lives...it touches my heart.

This is nothing special, just a few branches I pruned from one of our new pear trees and wanted to see if they would blossom and maybe root.

*

If you have something in your home to share you can go over to flwrjane's and join in, it is fun.

*

I am off now to tend to some administrative duties...I know, your jealous.

Have a sweet Monday.

A Taste of Spring

Jack takes a nibble of grass and exclaims "Hey, Maggie, the grass tastes like spring, what do you think?"
"Well, it certainly smells like it, hmm."

"Let me just get a sample from this nice spot."

"Ah yes, delicious...I make the official pronouncement. It is Spring!"
*
I hope you are all sampling signs of Spring too.

Action

The events in Japan continue to fill our minds and hearts with sorrow for the people of that ravaged country. As we can all see, the distress is far from being over and they will need help for a very long time. I have a link to Salvation Army on the sidebar if you would like to donate. I learned yesterday, that all money donated for Japan goes only for that effort, not into the general fund. The spokesman reported that their headquarters in Korea have organized getting water and other supplies to the people, from that country, as a faster route.
*
I will be putting more info on the sidebar as time goes on. Any organization that I put up will be one that is a good steward of any hard earned money that you might choose to donate.
**
Please know that I am not trying to push anyone to donate, just making it a bit easier if you are able and wish to do so.

Bath Redo

I hope you all had an enjoyable weekend and are all rested and ready for a new week. I am raring to go this Monday morning as I am off to meet up with Big Bob The Builder at the Vancouver House. We have two projects going at once, the family room and the main bath. This trip will be more decisions on color combinations for the bath and the fun job of popcorn removal from the FR ceiling, ugh.
*
Here are a few photos that give me some ideas for the bath...just wish I had the sq. footage and $$ to actually pull one of these off, still, these are great food for the decorating part of the brain.

Love this alcove tub...best to live way out in the country with that window, ha!

*

What a great bath for a family, baby can even be bathed in the sink while the other little ones are splashing in the nice big clawfoot tub.....Enough dreaming for now, better get busy so I can get down the road to make some realistic choices.
*
Happy Monday to you all!

There, but for the Grace of God, go I

The story continues to worsen for the people of Japan. I am heartsick and can barely put words together to describe the muddled emotions that are going through me right now. I pray but the heaviness in my being will not lift. Where do those on that island begin and what pieces will be left to work with?
*
There, but for the Grace of God, go I. For those of you who do not know, the Pacific Northwest is on a horrible fault line...from California all the way up to the border of Canada and beyond. The Little House is on an island and right by the beach...and so it goes, the photos are real and the truth of the matter is real...this could happen to us and I am not ready, in more ways than one. Living every day as if it were the last is important, because it really could be the last.
Dear Lord, please be with the people of Japan, only you can help them with what is to come. Amen.

Happy Reminder

Happy Friday! Is it just me, or has this week grown wings and flew by for you too? I had so many worthy tasks to complete and I must sadly face the fact that many went undone. Never mind that, as tomorrow is another new day and an opportunity to get back to the spring list...I so love spring with new birth everywhere and happiness in our hearts..With that said, there is an event this weekend that so many of us dread, you know what I am going to remind you of don't you?

*
When you crawl into your nice comfy bed, all ready to do a bit of reading, don't forget to set your clock forward.
*
I have started a project of re-thinking my kitchen and finding more work surfaces and more storage so everything will have a home, I'm looking forward to my 'new' space. Do you have anything special you will be working on this weekend?
*
Whatever it is I hope you have a good one!

Cookbook Cleanout #2

* Update - This book has found a new home. *

Here is another book that is looking for a new home. Email me details if you want it.

Cookbook Cleanout

I am a cookbook addict...There, I have said it and yes it is an illness (fun one). No, I am not giving up the habit, just pairing down to make room for those new ones that come along (books not habits).
*
You, my lovely readers, can help. Every so often I will be giving away the ones that need to find a new home. How will that work? Easy, first one to comment and ask for it will get it.
*
Leave a comment requesting the book then go to my little house email and leave mailing details.
*
Have a great Monday! xo

A Test Drive

Here is the newest member of the Vancouver house, a generous Valentines gift from my hubby... thank you honey!!
*
I took it for a spin this afternoon and she preformed beautifully, whipping up a batch of goodies in no time at all.
The old standby, a cookie jar favorite and one that has greeted many a child after school for generations.
The humble, faithful, oatmeal raisin cookie...Yummy!
*
I hope you are all having a pleasant weekend.

Waiting

For Spring !

*
Hope you are all having a good day. I am off to pick up Mom and Sis. We will be looking for my Valentines present from the Mr. He gave me $$$ to go and pick out a Kitchen Aid for the Vancouver house (to make goodies for the grandchildren, of coarse) and I am so excited. I will share with you what I find.
*
See you back here soon!
