I Want To Be Miss E. When I'm 82

"Good morning Miss E., it sure looks like you have been busy."
" Well. yes, I want to get this driveway cleared off so my granddaughter can get her car in tonight when she comes to visit."

"You have done quite a good job, look at that nice clear path you have done all the way from the house, she should have no problem getting in here now. That was quite a bit to do, I think you can probably call it good now and go on in."

" Remember when I got these boots on sale, you were with me (changing the subject)?"
"Yes I do Miss E., they are very nice, now don't you think you should go in now?"

" Yes, I think I will go in and have an nice cup of coffee."
"That sounds like a good idea."
" Yes, a nice cup of coffee and then I will be ready to finish up out here, you know, this is how I stay young."
Another good lesson learned from the wise Miss E.

A Better Day

A beautiful day today, as you can see. We have a bit of wind but nothing like what was in the forecast, though it is very cold still and will remain so for days.
Our feathered children are happy for the sunshine and haven't even quarrelled once, I even spotted them taking up friendly conversations.
Thank you for all of your nice comments yesterday, it sure helped lift my spirits while having to tend to the unpleasantries.
I am still having problems with blogger, now I am unable to leave comments on some blogs...That will never do!! So I do need to make the dreaded call to the tech help people...(huge sigh), and get it fixed. I will be back when all is well.
Have a lovely weekend.

It Is Here!

Well now, at 5:00 AM there was no snow and nothing on the ground. Around 5:30 it started and this was taken at 7:00.
The chicken yard at about 7:15 and by the time I got boots, and gloves on the netting over the garden run was down.

I had to go out and tear down what was left of the netting, as it had almost collapsed to the ground with the weight of the snow. Then I tried to shovel a path to the heated water bowl and put out a new Flock Block to try and lure the gang dice.

This is all just the beginning. We are now being told that blizzard conditions, with gusts to 60 mph. will be coming also, along with more snow and arctic temps.
I will be updating for family down in Portland and for all of you who are interested.
I am concerned about Daisy and the chickens...hope they will come out...I must figure out what to do to give them extra shelter for when the blizzardy stuff starts..Oh, and I have to rig up the heat lamp in the coop....All this and Mr. B. is working long hours, so no help there.

One Of Those Great Finds

I am so excited...he, he !! Look what I found at The Red Door thrift shop for $8.00.
Does it work? The tag said it worked, so just now when I got home, I took a picture from the front porch and, sure enough, out came a picture. I held my breath to see if the picture came out, and.....

Sure enough, there it is. Now, the prospect of finding film...maybe?
I just had to share this with you!

20 Degrees Brrrr !

Breakfast everyone, come and get the warm oatmeal mush.

Daisy thinks she will try the appetizer of Black oil sunflower seeds until there is room at the table.

These girls agree, have some protein before the carbs.
I'm off to the feed store this morning as the cold snap has hit and looks like it will be with us for the entire week. Had to cancel the trip south to the other house as the Portland area will be getting some of the same.
Stay warm and have a good Monday.

Snow In The Forecast?

Snow, really? I will pretend I didn't hear that, I am not going to let this opportunity pass by. It has been far too long since I have been able to use my line and so tonight we will sleep on sheets with the sweet smell of the sun.
Hopefully, my computer will be all well by Monday. Carbonite is doing it's thing right now to back up our files and when that is done, McAfee will take over and I won't be stuck on the phone with tech help..Ugh.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. As for me, I will enjoy the sunshine while it lasts.

Can Someone Help Me?

Night before last I was minding my own business, checking blog updates when up pops that pesky reminder from Microsoft that I haven't scanned lately...hmmm. So I mention it to the Mr. and he, in all of his wisdom says, "you need to do it." So, being the obedient wife that I am (sometimes, most of the time, well, I try) I started the process of scanning (above photo) which took longer than I thought and finally went to bed.
The next morning when I got up and turned on my beloved computer I found a different familiar favorites, search places, was gone, all gone and looking all foreign. I was so afraid and lost...What would I do? I panicked and couldn't think...I feared I would never see any of you again. At this, the lowest point, I realized that I hadn't had any coffee, that was no way to try to tackle something of this proportion, so with mug in hand I pondered the problem and soon knew that I must jump right in and take charge.

I made a few adjustments, and once I found all of you, I decided that I could live with this different look.....Until...
I went to make a new post. I loaded my photos and finished writing my post and proceeded to link to another blog and could not highlight to do it...Has that ever happened to you? It is a very odd feeling to not be able to highlight as you know that you cannot link without it. Then I had to delete the entire post because it was about another blog and I had to link...So after I deleted I tried a new post 'without' a photo and I 'could' highlight then. I tried it over and over and it was always the same. With photo, No highlight. Without photo, can highlight.
I am so hoping that some of you will be able to help me with this as I do love to link and need to.
Please help if you can. You can email or leave a comment of both.
Thanks in advance.

Meet Flora

** Fabulous Flora ** The Wizard Citation Sewing Machine

I inherited this sewing machine from my great Aunt Ella, unfortunately, I didn't inherit the manual. I went online to the Brother Co. and requested the instructions but sadly they gave me a "sorry we are unable to help as it is no longer available" email. I really need to find help on this as it has so many settings. I could get by but it would be nice to put it to it's full use.

If anyone knows where I might inquire or has any idea how to use it, I would so appreciate if you would drop me a line.

Thanks in advance (fingers crossed)!

Yippy Yahoo!

I am a happy girl! The sun is finally out and the clothes will soon be on the line.

My camera has forgiven me for fooling around with settings.

Daughter suggested that I might look in the manual (the same manual that got me into this bind) and see about 'default'. Sometimes daughters can be smarter than the moms.

In the end, the clouds always part and the sun does come out.

In an effort to finally get to know my camera and never take another picture as bad as my last post, I started changing the settings, with the help of my manual... Do you think it went well? Do you think that the photo above is one I took of my living room? Only in my dreams would that be true. I am lost, lost in a place where I may never find my way out. Buttons were fooled with and now my camera is a total stranger. How could I have gone so wrong?
Now I must research the error of my ways. When I get in from the drive down the 5, I will settle in and watch the tutorial I found and hopefully redeem myself and have the forgiveness of my camera.
I will be back once I can take a photo worthy of sharing with you.

Valentines Colors

Every Valentines Day, I remember my daddy showering my mother with wonderful things. There were big frilly red hearts filled with the best chocolates, cards detailed with satin ribbon and lace and, of coarse, the long stemmed red roses and dinner at the Pink Feather, a favorite steak house of my parents. With these fond memories, I have never strayed far from the traditional colors that this special day brings.
A nice surprise arrived in the mail a few months ago from Kat, Princess and the Pea blog, and I immediately knew I would save it for Valentines decor. I had sent her some pieces of fabric to help add to a future project she has planned and this is what she created for me...

Is this not the cutest fabric art piece around? She is so talented!

I will treasure this always and it will have a place of honor every year...Thanks Kat, you are a doll!
MEYER LEMONS ! ! ! I almost let out a loud screech of delight right in the middle of Costco!
For those of you that have this growing in your yard or grandmas garden, lucky you. But, living in the Pacific Northwest, pretty much the only way you are going to get it from someones tree is if a friend brings it back from a visit to California and you are on their very favorite person list.
Daughter suggests that I make lemon bars with these and that is what will be happening in my kitchen tomorrow. I will share the recipe with you and photos too.
Have a wonderful Saturday.
